Marie Connole is a visual artist based in the west of Ireland. Her work is inspired by nature, folklore, and our relationship to the land. Working across painting, illustration, and collaborative events, she explores how culture and environment shape identity and a sense of belonging.

Upcoming projects include illustrating the Clare County National Biodiversity Action Plan 2025–2031 and a 2026 solo exhibition in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre. Previous exhibitions have focused on the mythic city of Cill Stuifín/Kilstipheen, said to lie in the Atlantic ocean. This theme has been developed across exhibitions in Cúlturlann Sweeney Gallery, Kilkee (June 2025), Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon (2019), the Irish Arts Center, New York (2018) and the University of Galway (2017).

Connole’s work has also been exhibited with EVA International, the National Gallery of Ireland, and the Royal Ulster Academy. She is a recipient of several awards, including the Decade of Centenaries Arts Award and Agility Arts Award. Committed to sharing creativity beyond traditional gallery spaces, she also curtes arts initiatives and faciliates opportunities for people to connect with their own stories in new and unexpected ways.
