Metamorphosis depicts a young boy gazing at the butterfly that rests gently on his finger. On his t-shirt are various images associated with his healing journey after surgery; the blossoming from a kidney system healing is echoed by the heron flying to the right, a bird associated with healing in Irish folk tradition.

A caterpillar leaves the scene and steps into the real world, moving from the internal depiction on the tshirt - this will later become the butterfly the boy holds.

In the background a moody sky above the changing Atlantic waters serves as a reminder of the move away from turbulent times.
